VIDEO: The neighbor who found a Jacksonville mom dead in their driveway after a hit and run crash off New Berlin Road on the Northside. Police say 55-year-old Paula Abdullah was walking on the edge of the road when she was hit.

Paula Abdullah, 55, was walking home from work Tuesday night, heading down New Berlin Road, when a truck hit her at about 10 p.m. and kept going.

Police in Jacksonville are looking for a black Toyota Tacoma, possibly an SR5 Sport model, with heavy right front damage to the headlight area in the hit-and-run.

Abdullah's body was found Wednesday morning by Betty Forrester in Forrester's driveway.

“I left my living room at 5:25 a.m., went to the car, and back out to go to work,” Forrester told Channel 4 on Thursday. “(I) decided to pick up the paper, walked over and realized what I saw off to the side was a body.”

Forrester said it was a gruesome discovery and one that made her heart sink.

“Sad, wondering why she was not on the sidewalk,” Forrester said.

Forrester said she called for help as Abduallah, who was her neighbor and co-worker at a Northside Walmart, lay lifeless in her driveway.

“She was a sweet person, Paula really was,” Forrester said. “She would do anything for you.”

Police are asking anyone with information on Abdullah’s death to call Crime Stoppers, 1-866-845-TIPS.

“I want to say to the person who did this, for you to hit anybody and just drive off, you don’t have a conscience,” said Abduallah’s daughter, Sharifah Abdullah. “You could have called 911, you could have called for help. She was right there. She was almost home.”
