Hundreds of people gathered for the grand opening of Krispy Kreme's newest location in Arlington early Tuesday morning.

People gathered as early as Monday afternoon to line up in front of Krispy Kreme on 7612 Merrill Road for a chance to win free doughnuts for a year.

Tovia Smith and her husband lined up at 11 a.m. Monday morning, putting them first in line for the grand opening.

"I was excited.... I got here at 11 o'clock yesterday... I never left," said Smith.

The new location opened at 6 a.m. Tuesday and the first 100 guests in line received free doughnuts for a year and a commemorative t-shirt.

"I love Krispy Kreme.. I love it! But I'm not going to eat them all myself, we have a plan to kinda share them with our community, our church, some of the schools because there's always a birthday, anniversary, some kinda of celebration going on," said Smith.

Smith said she'll enjoy some of the doughnuts herself, celebrating her birthday with Krispy Kreme doughnuts instead of cake this year.

Jason Chimento showed up around 12:30 p.m. Monday and he was very excited to dig in Tuesday morning.

"We waited a good while... I'm going to eat doughnuts, that's the first thing I'm going to do," Chimento said laughing.

The approximately 2,400 square foot location with a drive-thru will feature more than a dozen varieties of Krispy Kreme’s  doughnuts, including the signature hot Original Glazed® doughnuts , as well as a complete menu of Krispy Kreme Chillers®, iced beverages and Krispy Kreme Coffee Blends.

“We are extremely excited to bring this newly constructed and updated shop to our loyal Jacksonville area doughnut and coffee fans.” says Cindy Bay, SVP of US Franchises and Company Stores for Krispy Kreme.

The Krispy Kreme Arlington location will be open Monday through Sunday, 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. The drive thru will be open 24 hours.
