JACKSONVILLE, Fla -

The City of Jacksonville Solid Waste Division is hosting a free household hazardous waste and electronic waste collection event on the Northside this weekend for Duval County residents.

The event is Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Oceanway Park on Sago Ave.

Hazardous wastes that can be dropped off include paint, paint thinners and strippers, household and car batteries, pool chemicals, antifreeze, aerosol cans, fertilizer, pesticides, acids, gun powder, ammunition, fireworks, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, oil, and gasoline.

E-waste materials that can be dropped off include televisions, computer monitors, printers, VCR's, pagers, printers, and scanners.

Hazardous materials can't be collected with regular trash. The goal of these events is to make sure the hazardous and electronic waste materials are disposed of properly or recycled.

Residents can also drop off their household hazardous waste and e-waste year-round at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility located at 2675 Commonwealth Ave, Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
