Ocearch tracks great white shark in the Gulf of Mexico
Scientists have tracked a great white shark in the Gulf of Mexico. Ocearch, which researches and tracks sharks, says the satellite for the shark named Betsy had appeared about 63 miles off Boca Grande.
Scientists tagged the 12-foot, 1,400-pound female shark in August of 2013. She was tagged off Cape Cod during an exhibition.
It was unknown where Betsy was after she was captured and released.
Ocearch says her tag appeared Friday. She's the first of the organization's Atlantic Ocean exhibitions white sharks to be tracked in the Gulf of Mexico
