SAN ANTONIO – A bus driver accused of mocking an upset and crying child will no longer drive buses for the district.
Floresville ISD Superintendent Dr. Sherri Bays confirmed that the driver, known to students as "Ms. Pat," is no longer with the district.
Video obtained by KSAT-TV from inside bus No. 67 shows the driver calling the young girl a "crybaby" and inviting other students to join in, chanting, "Ready? Cry, cry, cry!"
After seeing the story that aired on Monday, many KSAT-TV viewers said they were expecting to learn that the driver was fired.
However, Bays said on Monday that she was aware of the incident and that the driver was disciplined, though she would not elaborate how.
The driver was reportedly on duty Tuesday morning, but by Tuesday afternoon, there was a substitute driver.
On Wednesday night, though, KSAT obtained an email Bays sent to a parent, saying, "At this time, the bus driver in question is no longer employed by Floresville ISD."
Bays would not say if the driver was fired or resigned.
