Over the last few weeks, Channel 4 has been searching for the Jacksonville lady or gent with the most patriotic pipes.
We're narrowing down the field of talent in our "Oh Say Can You Sing" contest. Belting out their pride for the stars and stripes 15 people made it to the second round of auditions at the Channel 4 studios Saturday.
For Alec Hadden, the opportunity to test his tune in front of Channel 4 judges gets him one step closer to living his dream.
"The ultimate singing goal in life is for me to be a professional performer hopefully on the stage," said Hadden.
Channel 4's "Oh Say Can You Sing" contest has been scouring Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia for its best voices. Producers invited 15 contestants to callback auditions to perform two songs and complete a short interview. From there, three finalists will be chosen to perform live on Channel 4's "4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" broadcast.
"I was super excited! Any chance to be apart of Fourth of July festivities, whether it's on TV or not, is truly an honor, so I am very happy to be here," said contestant Byrson Allen.
With mounting pressure and a $500 prize on the line, callback contestants are hopeful their performances will hit a high note with our viewers.
"It's very nerve-racking but it's very exciting to get to go out and do a brand new experience like this," said Hadden.
Channel 4 producers will pick six finalists, then it's up to you, the viewers to select the final three who will perform live during our "Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular." Viewers will be asked to vote again, this time for who should sing the national anthem before the fireworks show at 9:45 p.m.
