Man found dead of gunshot wound

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 26-year-old man was found dead of a gunshot wound, lying in a field on the Westside on Monday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said a woman walking in the area of Ellis Road South and Woodcrest Road just before 9 a.m. spotted the body.

By afternoon, the victim was identified as Paul Eugene Williams, who lived about 5 miles away.

Investigators were trying to determine how long the body had been there. They were also working to identify the man.

Police were canvassing the area to try to find out any information the could.
