Woman fatally struck by car in Yulee

VIDEO: In Nassau County someone has died after they were hit by a car.

YULEE, Fla. -

A 35-year-old pedestrian died Friday night after being struck by a van on State Road 200 near Yulee Elementary School, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the victim, Lee Ann Benway of Jacksonville, was crossing the road about 10:20 p.m. in the area of Rubin Davis Lane and was struck by a Plymouth Voyager driven by Joyce Daughtry, 68, of Yulee. 

FHP says Benway was traveling from north to south across the westbound travel lanes and was struck in the inside lane

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.  The accident report says the driver was injured, but does not list any hospital information.

According to the FHP report, charges are pending.
