CALLAHAN, Fla. -

The Florida Highway Patrol says a 68-year-old woman died after two vehicles struck her as she crossed the southbound lanes of U.S. 1 Saturday night in Nassau County.

Troopers say it happened at 10 p.m. on U.S. 1 at Holiday Drive between Callahan and Hilliard.  Donna Lou Newman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The first vehicle, a 2011 Ford F-150, was driven by 21-year-old Cody Godwin of Callahan. His passenger, 19-year-old Emily Broughton of Callahan, sustained minor injuries.

FHP says the truck sustained $15,000 in damage.

The second vehicle to hit the pedestrian was a 2011 Honda CRV. It sustained no damage, and neither the driver or passenger were injured.

FHP says alcohol was not a factor in this crash, and everyone in both vehicles was wearing a seat belt.
