JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 66-year-old man trying to cross a Westside street died late Saturday after being hit by driver. The crash happened about 10:20 p.m. on Cassat Avenue, near the intersection of Tunis Street.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says a man was trying to cross the street at the intersection and an 18-year-old man driving a four-dour Saturn south on Cassat Avenue hit the elderly man.

Crews say the man died at the scene.

The 18-year-old driver was the only person in the vehicle and not injured in the wreck. Names of the victim and the driver were not released.

Police do not suspect alcohol, drugs or speed as factors in the crash. No one is expected to be arrested.

Cassat between Quan Drive to Yerkes Drive was closed while the accident was investigated and cleared, but has since reopened.
