JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Traffic homicide detectives says a pedestrian died Tuesday night after being struck by a car on the Southside.

Police said the accident happened just after 6 p.m. Tuesday on the ramp to Interstate 95 ramp coming off of J. Turner Butler westbound.

The pedestrian, who police have not identified, was taken to UF Health, where he later died.

Traffic was not able to access I-95 northbound headed west on Butler, and police expected that on-ramp to be closed for much of the evening.
