Person found shot in North Shore

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Sunday morning in the North Shore.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office told News4Jax they received a call just after 3:30 a.m. Sunday. Officers found one person shot near 5700 of N. Pearl Street, not far from North Shore Elementary School.

Police say the person had been shot in the leg and was transported to UF Health, but is expected to survive. Police have detained one witness and say they found several pieces of evidence at the scene.
