Teen hit by train in St. Johns County

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -

An 18-year-old was flown to a hospital after being struck by a train Friday afternoon, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Kendrick Johnson was walking near the train tracks in the area of Madeore Street when he was struck about 1:30 p.m.

He was flown to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center from Flagler Hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Deputies said the train was stopped, blocking traffic in the area of State Road 207.

Commuters are asked to avoid the area if possible.

Deputies said the investigation is ongoing.
