Police are investigating after a man was found Friday on a  sidewalk of Northwest Jacksonville with several gunshot wounds, according to police.

Police were called to Grothe Street near the intersection with Payne Avenue about 1:40 p.m.  Officers said the man was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, but they couldn't comment on his condition.

There was a bicycle near the victim, but they don't know how it was involved.

"We don't know who was riding it, but it is part of our crime scene," said Lt. Ashish Sircar.

The scene is near the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation, but the victim was clearly an adult.

Police said they were canvassing the area trying to develop information about who did the shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
