TITUSVILLE, Fla. -

A single-engine plane crashed through the roof a Titusville business on Thursday, but the pilot and his passenger escaped serious injury, investigators said.

The crash occurred around noon at 2210 Garden Street at the American Paint and Body Collision Center.

According to investigators, the plane, which took off earlier from Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville, suffered engine problems, and the pilot attempted to make a landing at nearby Arthur Dunn Airport.

The plane, however, crashed into the business, which was occupied by several people, officials said. No one inside the building was injured and there were was no fuel leak or fire.

The pilot and a second man aboard the plane were treated at the scene before being taken to Parrish Medical Center in Titusville.

A WKMG-TV news helicopter flew over the scene, showing a large hole in the roof. Debris was littered inside the building.

The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the crash.
