Planning department approves Mandarin housing development

The Jacksonville Planning and Development Department has approved a high-density housing development in Mandarin called Grace Farms.

The development would have 67 homes on just 17.6 acres on Plummer Grant Road.

Area residents continue to lobby city officials against the development, saying it will destroy the kind of country living they have in that part of town.

A planning commission meeting is scheduled for Thursday.

The City Council could vote on the development Sept. 23.
