Police: Dad shoots son on Father's Day

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -

Police say a man shot his teenage son following an argument in New Smyrna Beach.

Eugene Blackwell Sr., 46, shot his 18-year-old Eugene Blackwell Jr. around 6:15 p.m. on Father's Day. Authorities say the teen is in critical condition.

According to police, Blackwell had been fighting with his wife at their home. The wife left the home and the son intervened and was shot.

Blackwell is being held without bail at the Volusia County Jail.
