Motorcyclist, 46, dies in crash on Beach Blvd.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 46-year-old Jacksonville man was killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday night on the Southside.

Police said Darrin Elliott was riding his motorcycle bout 6:45 p.m. westbound in the left lane of Beach Boulevard at the intersection of Peach Drive a short distance behind an SUV.

The SUV changed lanes in front of the motorcycle, and Elliott applied his brakes to avoid hitting the SUV, police said.

They said the motorcycle went down on its side and slid into the rear of the SUV. Elliott was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, according to witnesses.

The driver and two passengers in the SUV were not injured.

Two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane of Beach Boulevard were closed while police investigated.
