Police in Jacksonville have arrested a 29-year-old man who they said broke into an elderly woman's home, demanded money and threatened to rape and shoot her.

Police said Christopher Watts shattered the window of a home in the area of Plymouth Street and Lake Shore Boulevard on the Westside at about 4 a.m. April 15.

Investigators said Watts entered the home and walked toward the victim with a sawed-off shotgun.

Watts demanded money, the rings off the woman's hands, and jewelry, police said. They said he also took her hearing aids and then made her remove her clothing and made several threats to rape her.

Watts made the victim lie on the floor and threatened to shoot her if she didn't comply with his demands, police said.

Investigators said the man is a stranger to the victim.

Watts was charged with attempted armed sexual battery and armed burglary.

Investigators said they're still trying to locate the victim's property. Anyone who has any information about the jewelry is asked to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
