HOLLY HILL, Fla. -

Police have arrested a 33 year-old man they say beat his father to death with a sledgehammer.

Holly Hill police say Vinayak Shanbhag attacked his father, Panduran Shanbhag, while he was sleeping.  Just hours before the two of them had a night of "playing puzzles."

Police charged him with first-degree murder.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the victim's wife, Rukma Shanbhag, called police after checking on him and finding he had been attacked.  She says because of her arthritis they sleep in separate beds.

She told authorities he admitted to the crime after following her when she checked on her husband.

Police found the Panduran in a pool of blood with the bloody sledgehammer nearby.

When authorities spoke to Vinayak, he told them while they were playing puzzles his father said something that upset him, which led to the attack.
