JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A man called the parents of a 24-year-old woman, saying he was holding her for ransom Tuesday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The call went out as a reported possible abduction at the Creekwood Apartment Complex near Belfort and Hogan roads on the Southside about 2:30 p.m.

Police said they traced the call and arrested the man, a convicted felon whose identity was not immediately released.

A gun was recovered inside the apartment, police said.

Police said they were talking to the woman about the nature of her involvement. They said the woman didn't appear to be hurt.
