JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

The on-again, off-again boyfriend of a 33-year-old woman has been charged with murder in her killing before he tried to kill himself, according to Jacksonville police.

Michael Day, 45, was arrested in the shooting death of Kendra Nagy on Friday.

Police responded to the home in the 4600 block of Sunderland Road about 11:30 a.m., and four people were gathered outside.

Police said Day came to the door bloody when Nagy's friends showed up after she didn't go to work.

According to a police report, Day and Nagy had a fight at a sports bar the night before, and she left with a friend.

When Day got home there was an argument, and he shot her, police said. They said he then shot himself under the jaw, but the gunshot wound wasn't lethal.

He was taken to UF Health Jacksonville and is under guard, being held without bond.

Police said they are unaware of any prior incidents between the couple.
