Police: Man shot by stray bullets while walking

Victim says he was walking when people in 2 cars started shooting at each other

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man told police he was shot by stray bullets while walking in Northwest Jacksonville on Monday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said the man went to UF Health Jacksonville with gunshot wounds to his arm and foot about 1 p.m.

He said he was walking at West Sixth and Grunthal streets when two cars came by, the occupants firing at each other, and he was hit by stray slugs.

A woman who saw the man after he was shot said he told her to call police.

Eight evidence markers were seen on the street near a parked car, and the windows of the car were broken from the gunfire.

The man told police he was going to see a friend when he was shot.
