JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that happened in Jacksonville's Urban Core Thursday around 9 p.m.
Police said a 23-year-old man was walking along the 800 block of West Eighth Street when he heard a gunshot. Shortly after the man realized that he had been shot in the shoulder.

Police said the man flagged down a vehicle in the area for help. The person driving that vehicle took him to Shands Hospital, where he is reportedly in stable condition.
Investigators at the scene are trying to figure out where the gunshot came from.
