1 dead, 1 injured in shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are investigating a shooting in the Sans Souci area Thursday night that left a 19-year-old  dead and another man injured.

Officers were dispatched to Mandell Drive near University Boulevard West around 9 p.m. Thursday in reference to someone being shot. When officers arrived, they found two men with gunshot wounds.

Both victims were taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where one died and the other was taken to surgery.

On Friday, police identified the victim killed as Sean Williams. They have not named the man who who remains hospitalized, but said he is about 25 years old.

Someone who lives close to the scene told police they heard a car with a loud muffler leaving after shots were fired.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous and could receive a reward of up to $3,000.
