Hammond's mother was following him in the car when police said she was involved in a traffic crash. She was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police said the sound of the crash scared Hammond and he took off running.

Wednesday evening, officials said Hammond was found by police.

Police were originally told by the teenager's 8-year-old brother that Hammond is bipolar and paranoid schizophrenic. However, Hammond's father told police that he is not mentally disabled.
