BRADENTON, Fla. -

Police have arrested a 16 year-old boy who they say stole a truck, went for a joy ride and caused 23 crashes.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports he's a runaway from Arcadia, a southwest city about 50 miles north of Fort Myers.

The Bradenton Herald reports police say Francisco Sanchez Ibarra stole a red Ford F350 when he spotted it riding his bike Tuesday morning. The truck was at a tint shop and had just been dropped off.

The teen then went for a joy ride and caused 23 collisions.  Police began pursing the truck and the teen after locating the truck.  During the chase a helicopter kept tabs on the truck.

The Bradenton Herald reports the chase came to an end when the teen crashed on the Cortez Bridge.

Police arrested Ibarra and charged him with reckless driving, grand theft auto and fleeing to elude among other counts.

A spokesman for the police department says one person was taken to the hospital.  No other injuries were reported.

The crash closed the bridge until around 2 p.m.
