LAKE CITY, Fla. -

A man who crashed a motorcycle on S.W. Baya Avenue on Friday morning was hospitalized, but police are still trying to identify the motorcyclist.

According to Lake City Police, the motorcyclist was eastbound just after 9 a.m. when he crashed near S.E. Ermine Avenue.  Arriving officers and paramedics found the man with no helmet on lying conscious in the road with visible injuries.  He was flown by air ambulance to Shands Hospital at UF Health in Gainesville.

It appeared to be a single-vehicle accident, although it wasn't know if another vehicle or object contributed to the crash.

After the crash, police learned the black 1996 Kawasaki motorcycle was reported stolen on Thursday in Wakulla County.

Because the accident victim was carrying no identification, police are still trying to confirm his identity.  He will likely be charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.
