PONTE VEDRA, Fla. -

A Ponte Vedra teen is in critical condition after crashing into three trees, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators responded to North Cove Drive and Hammock Cove Drive in Ponte Vedra after receiving multiple reports of a possible traffic fatality.

Deputies said 19-year-old Garret Moore was driving his 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse around a sharp curve on North Cove Drive. Moore then lost control and struck three different trees.

Moore was flown to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries.

Deputies said speed may have been a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
