JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Power boat racing is returning to Jacksonville.

The city has already confirmed a time and place for its Powerboat P1 SuperStock Championship series.

It's described as "stock car racing," but on water, something Jacksonville hasn't seen in decades.

The event will be June 6-8 on the St. Johns River in front of Memorial Park.

Organizers expect to have a dozen boats competing. The series will also include jet ski races.

The city is expected to release more details about the event next week.
