Program for underwater home borrowers to reopen

The Florida Housing Finance Corporation is reopening a program to help those with homes underwater.  The homeowners' houses are worth less than what they owe when it comes to mortgages.

The program, Florida Hardest-Hit Fund Principal Reduction includes an online application.  It's expected to reopen Thursday morning at nine.

Last year the program had $350 million available for aid for homeowners.  The Corporation says nearly $102 million was spent.  The program extended aid to 24 hundred homeowners out of 25,000 who applied.

If homeowners qualify they could get a break of $50,000.

Here is a link to the Florida HHF Principal Reduction website where the application can be found.
