TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -

Gov. Rick Scott on Friday signed the death warrant for Robert E. Hendrix. He's scheduled to be executed April 23 at 6 p.m.

Hendrix was sentenced to death for the August 27, 1990, murder of a Lake County couple. Hendrix murdered the husband in order to prevent him from testifying against him in an unrelated case. Hendrix murdered the wife because she was a witness to the murder of her husband.

Henry fired a pistol six times, striking the husband once in the head and the wife twice in the head. None of the shots killed them. Hendrix hit the husband in the head with the pistol with such force the gun broke and slit his throat. Hendrix then stabbed the wife 31 times.
