JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. -

Three loggerhead sea turtles stunned by frigid waters up north have been brought to the Georgia coast to recover.

The turtle trio was flown by private plane Wednesday from Boston to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island. The center is essentially a veterinary hospital that treats sick and injured turtles.

Loggerhead turtles are an endangered species, and the three now being treated in Georgia were found suffering from hypothermic reactions in icy waters near Cape Cod. The New England Aquarium in Boston cared for the turtles until they could be flown to Georgia.

Dr. Terry Norton, director of the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, says all three turtles appear to be in good health and should be able to return to the ocean after the waters get warmer.
