JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 45-year-old sexually violent predator was sentenced Tuesday evening to indefinite confinement at the Florida Civil Commitment Center in Arcadia.

In 2004, Isidor Hernandez of Jacksonville, who was 35 years old at the time, approached the victim from behind as she was walking down the street. Hernandez choked the woman, pushed her into a vacant home and then forced her to have sex with him before fleeing the scene.

In 2005, Hernandez pleaded guilty to one count of sexual battery with a deadly weapon or force and was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

Experts reviewed Hernandez's case and found that he suffers from a personality disorder that makes him likely to engage in acts of sexual violence if not confined in a secure facility for long-term control, care and treatment.

After hearing all of the evidence at trial, a jury determined that Hernandez is a sexually violent predator and should be housed at the commitment center.
