SAN CARLOS PARK, Fla. -

The Lee County sheriff says a San Carlos Park father fatally shot his three daughters, their mother and himself.

Sheriff Mike Scott told the Naples Daily News it's the single largest mass killing he can recall in Lee County. He says all the victims were found dead of gunshot wounds early Sunday. A sheriff's office news release says the children ranged in age between 2 to 10.

The office says it is not yet releasing the victims' names pending notification of next of kin. Scott says the father left a note but declined to comment on its contents.

The news release says deputies at 2:25 a.m. were called to investigate a death in south Fort Myers. The major crimes unit then responded.
