2 teenagers shot near Brentwood

One victim in critical condition; gunman ran from scene

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a double shooting Sunday afternoon that left one teenager in critical condition.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said at about 1 p.m. a man on Springfield Boulevard near Basswood Street fired eight to 10 gunshots at two young people standing on the sidewalk.  The man fled the area on foot, according to police.

Investigators said the two victims about 16 and 18 years of age were hit by the gunfire.  One of the victims was shot in both hands and one of his legs; the second teenager shot in the chest.

Both victims were transported to UF Health Jacksonville, where the teenager with the gunshot wound to his chest was in critical condition.
