Man dies after injury from Friday night shooting

JSO says man was innocent bystander

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says a 53-year-old man has died in the hospital after being mortally wounded in a shooting Friday night in Northside Jacksonville.

Police said Ahmad Franklin was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire when he was shot three times outside of his home.

JSO believes Franklin was waiting for a family member.

Sgt. Shawn Coarsey with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the two men fired about eight to 10 shots at each other near the intersection of Linda Drive and Kennard Street.

The suspects in the shooting have not yet been apprehended.
