SJSO: Driver crashes into deputy, flees

Car involved in hit-and-run found abandoned, suspect not yet caught

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A St. Johns County Sheriff's Deputy was transported to the hospital early Wednesday morning after a hit-and-run crash.

According to SJSO, around midnight, a car was traveling westbound on Bruen Street, at a high rate of speed, when it ran a stop sign and struck the deputy's cruiser.

The suspect fled the scene after the crash.

The deputy was transported to the hospital for evaluation, but is expected to be okay.

The suspect's car was spotted a short time later at a separate location and abandoned.

The suspect has not yet been caught, according to the SJSO. No vehicle description or suspect description has been released.
