SJC Hit and Run
HASTINGS, Fla. -

St. Johns County deputies are trying to figure out who was behind the wheel of the vehicle that struck and killed a man Saturday night.

Authorities received the 911 call just before 10 p.m. that a black man's body was found on the side of Federal Point Road at the St. Johns/Putnam County line in Hastings.

According to traffic homicide detectives, evidence suggests that the victim was lying on the ground on the edge of the road when hew was run over.  Investigators say the driver of the vehicle may not know they struck a person.

Investigators are withholding the victim's identity until his family is notified.

Anyone with information is asked to call the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Investigator J.D. McGinnis at 904-209-1498.
