First Coast No More Homeless Pets is hosting a summer Mega Pet Adoption to help find homes for 1,000 animals.
The event will be held July 18-20 at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds. 1,000 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens will be waiting to meet their new families. Adoption hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
The event is the largest pet adoption event in the country.
The adoption fee is just $25, which includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and city license. Adoptions are free for military with ID.
FCNMHP brings together Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services, Jacksonville Humane Society, and other shelters and rescues from across Northeast Florida for these events.
“Emptying the shelters and matching pets with loving families are the goals of these events. Working together, we can save the lives of thousands of animals that might not otherwise have a chance,” said Rick DuCharme, founder/executive director of FCNMHP.
The FCNMHP Mega Adoption Events are sponsored in part by PetSmart Charities as an effort to make northeast Florida no kill.
The Mega Pet Adoption held in April saved 819 dogs and cats during the event.
