Brandon Turner, 25

A suspect in a meth lab investigation in Lake City was arrested by police, accused of attackingĀ  his ex-girlfriend.

Brandon Turner faces several drug related charges including possession and manufacturing meth. Turner also faces one charge of domestic violence battery.

According to the Lake City Police Department, Turner was staying at the Gateway Inn on U.S. Highway 90. After failing to check out of the room, the cleaning staff found him sleeping in the room and called police.

When police arrived they found items like coffee filters, hypodermic needles and glass dishes, which suggested some sort of methamphetamine manufacturing operation.

Lake City police said Turner denied the items were his and fled the scene, dropped his clothes and ran into the woods. While fleeing, he dropped a cigarette pack with two substances later determined to be cannabis and methamphetamine.

Around 11 p.m., Lake City police responded to an address a few blocks away from the Gateway Inn in response to a domestic disturbance.

Turner's ex-girlfriend and mother of his children told them Turner was harassing her and begging to stay with her. Police said when the woman refused, he struck her several times in the back of the head.

Turner was arrested and transported to the Lake City Police Department, where he was interviewed by narcotics detectives. In that interview, he admitted to smoking and snorting methamphetamine the previous night before passing out in the bed.

Turner is currently being held on a $15,000 bond.
