TAMPA, Fla. -

A man suspected to be have impersonated a police officer turned out to be an undercover federal agent.

A woman says he pulled her over and yelled at her.  The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office circulated a surveillance photo of the man to try and obtain his identity.

The federal agent saw his picture on the television news and contacted the sheriff's office to explain he was a federal agent.

He says he pulled her over because she was speeding in a school zone.

The woman says he stopped her after she pulled into a parking lot.  She says the police impersonator yelled at her and then asked for her license and registration. Upon returning her identification she says he again yelled at her and told her he was just trying to scare her.

The man says he told the woman he was a federal agent.
