SUV careens into canal after crash in Lauderdale Lakes

5 people, including 2 children, taken to hospitals after crash

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – Five people, including two children, were taken to hospitals after a crash that sent an SUV into a canal in Lauderdale Lakes.

Sky 10 was above the area at Northwest 29th Street and State Road 7 shortly before 2 p.m. as the front of the SUV was submerged.

A car that was still in the intersection was being towed away (pictured). The car had significant damage to the front.

Broward Sheriff's Office Department of Fire-Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said a 25-year-old man and 34-year-old woman were in the SUV. The man was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, while the woman was taken to Florida Medical Center.

A woman and her two children in the car were also taken to Florida Medical Center. The 1-year-old boy and girl, who were in car seats at the time of the crash, were taken to the hospital with their mother as a precaution.
