JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A man was arrested after the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office SWAT team surrounded a home in Northwest Jacksonville late Friday afternoon.

Police said the man was suicidal and making threats. He is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

When police arrived at the home near West 13th Street and Witschen Avenue just after 3:45 p.m. a woman was also in the house, but officers were able to safety get her out.

"He is considered armed and dangerous, and he has made some threats," JSO spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda said before the arrest.

The immediate area around the home was evacuated as a precaution.

Police said the man got aggressive with officers when he came out of the home, but was taken into custody. His identity was not immediately released.
