Tim Deegan arrested on DUI charge

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Veteran First Coast News meteorologist Tim Deegan was arrested Saturday night and charged with DUI and running a stop sign, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

According to the arrest report, Deegan, 54, was stopped on 1st Street North about 8:45 p.m. after a Jacksonville Beach police officer saw Deegan's Jeep go through the four-way stop intersection with Beach Boulevard at about 10 mph.

The arresting officer noted that Deegan's eyes were red, watery and glassy, and there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from the SUV.  The report said he was slurring his words, was clumsy when he got of the car, then couldn't find his wallet.

The report says he told officers he had two beers at a birthday party and was returning home.  An inventory of the car found three empty Budweiser cans, a full, unopened beer can in the passenger seat and a half-full 16-ounce can, cold to the touch, in the driver console, covered by a Texas A&M ball cap.

Police said his blood alcohol content was .181 and .179.
