Train hits car stopped on Westside tracks

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A train struck a car stopped on railroad tracks on the Westside on Tuesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

State troopers said 55-year-old Pintucan Rose-Emy was heading east on Timuquana Road on the Westside when the car became disabled on the tracks at the intersection of U.S. 17 just before 11 a.m.

Troopers said Rose-Emy was able to safely exit the car.

They said a southbound Amtrak train saw the car on the tracks and began to slow down but was unable to stop before striking the left side of the car.

No passengers on the train were hurt.
