Transient hit by train in St. Johns County

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A transient was hit by a train in St. Johns County on Friday evening, according to Florida East Coast Railway.

Officials said a local train that services Jacksonville and St. Augustine hit a person on the tracks off State Road 16,  35 miles south of Jacksonville.

Officials said it happened in an isolated, industrial area.

They said they believe the person was a transient who was lying on the tracks.
