Trash-tossing driver sought in hit-and-run

Driver and passenger critically injured

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – State troopers believe garbage caused a serious crash that left two people critically injured on the Northside Sunday. Now they are searching for a red pickup truck that may have been involved.

According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, a black Honda Accord was following a red pickup truck on Interstate 295 just north of Pritchard Rd. when garbage thrown out of the truck passenger side window blew directly into the Accord's windshield.

When the driver of the Accord, Cherish Sheree Marrs, 22, tried to pass the truck on the right, troopers said the truck hit the car, causing it to roll over.

The release said Marrs and passenger who was ejected from the car were taken to U.F. Health hospital in critical condition. Another passenger, Danielle Renee General, 23, was listed in serious condition.

The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for a red, midsize, unknown make or model, pickup truck. The truck will have dark tinted windows and a decal on the back window reading "Salt Life". The truck also as possible damage to the right rear side.
