Tuition bill to be discussed

DAVIE, Fla. -

Lawmakers, university administrators and students are set to discuss the tuition bill  regarding undocumented students in Florida.  Immigrant advocates and college officials want undocumented students to be allowed the right to pay in-state college tuition rates.

The discussion against the bill will take place Thursday at Broward College.

In March the state House passed a bill that would grant a tuition waiver to undocumented students.

The students who graduated high school and attend a Florida college for four consecutive years would be granted the right to pay in-state tuition.  The students would be given the right regardless of immigration status.

Supporters of the bill say children brought into Florida at a young age shouldn't be denied of paying in-state tuition; while those who oppose say the bill gives benefits to students whose family broke the law.
