Orange Park police searching for shooter

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Police are searching for a gunman after two women were shot early Saturday morning at the Park Place Apartments on Loring Avenue.

Orange Park police say two women were in their vehicle at the complex on  at 5:39 a.m. when they were approached by a man who fired shots into their vehicle.

The woman in the driver's seat was pronounced dead at Orange Park Medical Center. The passenger was being treated for her injuries.

After the shooting, the gunman entered a newer model red hatchback car and sped away, according to police.

Rhanda Bostrom described the terrifying moments when she realized that a shooting had happened across the street at the Park Place apartment complex.

"Bam, bam, bam. Then we heard a lady scream," said Bostrom.

Bostrom said she hopes and prays that someone with information will come forward, and she feels for the woman's family.

"I do, I cry out for the family. I cry out, and I hope with all my heart that they catch this person -- or these people -- who did this."

The Orange Park Police Department, the Clay County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are actively gathering evidence and canvassing for witnesses at the scene.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
